We all know that most RPG games involves a lot of hard work to level up your character or account. You will need to spend most of your extra time in front of your computer and to keep tapping your mouse or key board until your fingers will tire out.

IGG has finally come out with a unique type of browser based game which is “FreeSky Online”. Playing this game will only require you to set up all the entire operation then you may either log off and continue whatever you’re doing. Most players says that this is the best part of the game because even if you are offline, the game still continues and your account accumulates resources.

I just mentioned resources which is the necessary parts that you need to build your empire. Yes, Freesky is all about lords and empires that brings out the old history of England but the difference is the technology on this game world are highly advance. It’s all about ships that the battles are all done through the sky that’s why the game was called FreeSky.

The game will allow you to take control a number of cities and develop them to acquire a large number of population. You can then levy taxes from these people to gain a profit of gold to buy parts or resources. There are other more possible ways that you can do to earn it’s game currency but the most important part is the interaction among other players from the game.

This online game has some complexity where you have to undergo a period of tutorial to be able to understand it’s several available options. As a newbie player, you will be given a seven (7) day period of protection against other players that has already advanced their empires. I think that this period are already good enough to build and set up your castle defenses.

FreeSky online is just one of the best online game around that either an experienced game player or not can play with great excitement. You can enjoy more if you play together with your friends or families.

The objective of this game is to travel around the “Maple World.” Defeating monsters and making friends along the way. In MapleStory, you and your friends are able to band together and take on tough bosses (such as Zakum, Horned Tail, and it’s newest addition, a boss that has still never been defeated, Pink Bean.) MapleStory is a great way to pass time, and talk to different people everyday!

Users can form Guilds, to help and aid each other. This heavily promotes teamwork and also helps them advance. They may also combine Guilds together and form an “Alliance.” They may chat amongst the other guild members in said Alliance.

Players can participate in events held by the “Game Masters” (GMs) when they are held. The events can be from Jump Quests (where players must use timed jumps to get over obstetrical), to races.

The Cash Shop is a section of the game where players can use real money to earn points to spend in-game. Each dollar is worth one thousand (1000) points (or Nexon Cash.) They can then buy new clothes and accessories, Skill Point resets, 2x EXP cards and a ticket to MapleStory’s own lottery, Gachapon. There generally two ways to earn Nexon Cash. One, is by using your PayPal account to transfer your amount to Nexon. The second is by purchasing prepaid cards at certain stores, and charging them to your account. So far, the cards will give you either 10,000 and 25,000 Nexon cash depending on what card you buy.

As MapleStory is a very social game, Party Questing (PQs) are highly used by the community. It’s a quest which players must band together and from a “party” and take on various tasks. This also promotes teamwork.

Of course, if you feel like playing alone, MapleStory has that too. There are a load of maps you can train from alone and many different monsters to choose from.

As it is found in the real world, online free text games are filled with cities, towns, religious orders, churches, and social clubs (often referred to as clans) and even family lines that can occupy a player’s need for social interaction as well as learning opportunities. Many articles have been written to introduce readers to the concept of MUD games and how they function, how to play and to become part of an online world, but the purpose of this article is to show how a player is never alone unless he or she chooses.

Cities and towns provide a sense of civic pride and community. Many have laws, a city belief system, and generally follow a way of life which the player chooses upon entering the online game. Since MUD games are usually based in fictional worlds, the cities are aligned as evil, neutral, good, peaceful, or nature. What remains important is that a player picks the city that best represents the character he or she creates. Of course a citizen may choose to leave his or her birth city for a new land; there is no law that prohibits the citizenship changes because a character may change his or her outlook, but these changes can come with some ease or some stress depending on your first choice of city-state to reside.

Some may wonder why would choosing to leave the original homeland cause stress. It is nothing but a text game. Like any other move in life that is made in the real world offline, a move online will affect friendships, may divide families, and force the character to adapt to a new set of city laws and codes that do not reflect the birth city. All moves, though, do require some research and before a person decides to leave his or her homeland, it should be taken into consideration what losses and gains they will make. Some cities may no allow certain religious orders to live within their walls. Is the character willing to give up his or her religious order for the new life? Sometimes marrying another character will require a move if the player decides to live with his or her spouse in a new city. Yet, there are many successful marriages in the game and yes, in-game marriages are can be either opposite sex or same sex marriages, where spouses live in allied cities, but follow separate lives. However, the travel between cities to see one another can cause added stress when family may be needed close.

Truly, no one player can dictate how another chooses to live as long as he or she follows the rules of the organizations chosen. This is why many players are city-less or houseless, also considered rogue players, because they can move between all cities without any hindrance. That is to say the can move from city to city without a problem as long as they are not an enemy to a specific city or town. If the are an enemy, usually they will be hunted and killed. However, the rogue player is sometimes older and wiser and has lived in a few cities before embarking on his or her own. The rogue player will have already established ties in a house, order, family, clan, and have a base number of friends to keep from feeling lonely. It’s usually advised to wait until the character is established enough before embarking on a life of wandering city to city.

Religious orders may appeal to some players. If this is what a player seeks they can find evil, good, neutral, and nature based orders to join. Again, like a city, orders may have prohibitions or rules that require you to live in a certain city or the god followed may patron a city and require followers to reside in the patron city. Often players will discover that most divine orders are rather neutral and they can move between city to city with no problem. Likewise, a character may discover that serving as a member in an order is prohibited from entering cities that have laws which contradict the divine order laws. It is always best to educate the character if one has to leave a religious order as it may not be pleasing to his or her Divine patron. Moreover, a religious order becomes like a family. Sometimes a departure causes anxiety because a player is bound to the laws and the oaths made to the order. Again, like any big change found in the outside world, such as a move or change of job, the same feelings of loss, remorse and healing which follows with the change will be experienced in game.

There is an often used quote that states, “You cannot choose your family, but you can choose your friends”. This is not always true in a textual RPG game. A wise player will take time before joining a family. In the MUD world, a player can choose who he or she wishes to have as a mother or father. Sometimes the parents are discovered in an instant. Of course, others may wait many years searching for a family that feels right. Moreover, there are others who feel that starting their own family tree and bloodline may be a wise choice and embark on that life choice. This allows for newer families to flourish and to connect with established families if a player chooses. As in the real world, a character may choose to marry or not marry. He or she may choose to have children or to never have children. The choices are entirely up to how the character and player evolve over time and game experience. No matter which choice is made, the player will experience the same sibling issues, fights, rivalries, camaraderie, that is found in the real world.

Social clubs or clans are another part of the online experience. These clans may be divided by family name, racial choice, sex, sexual preference, interests, hobbies, or even for OOC (Out of Character) chat concerning game issues. Interaction with one another in these clans sometimes takes a cool head and patience as they may be very large and active, or very quiet and reserved for a select number of persons. As any other social club you may find in the real world, a player can quit a clan or never choose to join any other than house required clans. Sometimes players can be kicked out and made an enemy to a clan for bringing shame or not following the clan rules. Clans, like houses and cities, will often have a set of rules to follow and some are stricter than others. Those clans that are considered OOC have less rule and regulation, but still each player is deserving of respect. The key in any clan or organizational community is that self-respect and respect for the other go a long way.

The fundamental issue here is to remember that how life is experienced outside in the ‘real world’ is often reflected in the online game world. While the Textual RPG game may be a place of escape or a diversion, it is a world where players must learn the same life lessons they would learn while growing up outside of the game. While it may sound scary or even exciting, the reader is encouraged to learn, to grown, and to try creating an online persona and to learn how a life online really is just a miniature worldwide community. Furthermore, a player will discover is that self-respect and respect for the other go a long way. Know yourself and know that differences in player outlook and background will be different from yours. Understand that many friends online may come from other regions of a country within yours, from other continents, and even live in countries you never heard of before entering the game. What remains important is that while in-game you become citizens of the MUD world, and allow the differences to disappear as you learn from one another.

If you consider yourself a “gamer,” in any fashion of the word, and unless you have been living under a rock for the past year, you have heard all the buzz about Dragon Age: Origins. This recent release by Bioware is a multi-faceted, free-will RPG (Role Playing Game) that fulfills much of what keeps us coming back for more, without any of the typical throw-your-monitor-off-the-roof “grinding.”

What is “grinding,” you ask? Any RPG fan of the past thirty years (perhaps before that, even) will know this term all too well. In most RPG’s, building up your character involves honing and developing skills, and advancing to higher “levels.” Leveling is handled differently in each game, but nearly always follows the law of diminishing returns. Each subsequent level takes more work and more time to achieve than the previous.

Because of this frustrating, albeit necessary feature, at some point in the game, most RPG’s are reduced to the tedious and boring act of “Go to *area X,* fight and kill *creature Y* for two hours, level up” and repeat. This is the act known as “grinding.” Repeatedly doing the same act over and over again to achieve some goal, no matter how frivolous.

Many analysts feel that grinding is one thing that turns players away from new RPG’s, speculating that they realize the potential task before them and are unwilling to commit the time necessary to succeed. This is why one major strength of Dragon Age: Origins, and possibly one of its most attractive features, is the entire removal of grinding.

Not only did the developers remove the need for grinding by “scaling” experience earned across all battles, but they completely removed any possibility of it. A unique feature of Dragon Age: Origins is that there are a finite number of possible enemies to fight, and therefore a finite amount of total experience the player can receive. Not only does this remove the boring, time-consuming task of grinding for higher levels, but it also ensures that all players will eventually be able to complete the game.

I suspect that the removal of grinding from Dragon Age: Origins is something that will become much more common in RPG’s of the future. Developers will see the benefits of attracting players that are not necessarily willing to commit literally hundreds of hours to a game, while still providing enough content and replay value to keep the old fans amused.

Creating a list of the top 10 best SNES games ever is definitely something that will be subjective towards the creator’s personal views. Both the games that make the list and the order of the list can be debated. Here is a list of the top 10 best SNES games ever.

10 – Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting – This game probably made it to number one on any best SNES games list that was created by someone who loves fighting games. It is arguably the best fighting game for the SNES. With the addition of the Super Turbo feature, this game took the Street Fighter series to a whole new level.

9 – EarthBound – Although not very successful in the United States, EarthBound was extremely successful in Japan. It was praised there for its humorous depictions of American culture (can’t imagine why it sold poorly in the US) and parody of the RPG genre. Since then, it has become a cult classic.

8 – Final Fantasy II – By some, the graphics were considered outdated at the time of release. But FFII was praised for its length and bonus content and shipped over 1.28 million copies within five years of its initial release. It is considered one of the best Final Fantasy games and a great Final Fantasy game for the SNES.

7 – Mega Man X – This game was the second series for the Mega Man franchise and debuted on the SNES. It was intended to give a new image for the Mega Man series and it did. The game spawned over half a dozen follow-up games as well as another series, Megan Man Xtreme, and a spin-off series, Mega Max X: Command Mission.

6 – Chrono Trigger – Considered by some to best the best RPG of all time on the SNES, Chrono Trigger has also made the number slot on many other overall lists as well. Its primary competition in the RPG category comes with the Final Fantasy series, specifically Final Fantasy III. But Chrono Trigger is definitely one of the best games of all time on any console.

5 – Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars – A hybrid game that was part adventure and part role-playing game, the Super Mario RPG was the final Super Mario game on the SNES. It has received very good reviews since its release and was consistently featured in many “best game of all-time” lists.

4 – Super Mario World – This is often considered the best platform game for the SNES. The Super Mario series is the captain of platform games and Super Mario World is no exception. It was the best selling game for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System with over 20 million copies sold worldwide.

3 – Final Fantasy III – Probably the best game of arguably the best RPG series of all time, Final Fantasy. Final Fantasy III had great 2D graphics, an incredible soundtrack, and was a massive success in both Japan and the United states. The game appealed to both hardcore RPG players and newcomers to the RPGs.

2 – Super Metroid – Although the Metroid series did not originally reach the commercial success that some of its counterparts did, Super Metroid was given near-universal acclaim upon release. It is considered by many to be one of the best, if not the best, 2d action adventure game ever.

1 – The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past – This game may not be number one on every list of the best SNES games ever, but for any fan of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System it absolutely must make the list. Both the Zelda series and the character of Link remain some of the most popular game icons in video game history. The game is considered to be one of the greatest video games, of any console, of all time.

That is it. That was one author’s submission for the top 10 best SNES games ever. The list, like all top 10, top 25, or top 100 lists is completely subjective to the preferences of the author. This is a pretty solid list though when you consider series popularity, game units sold, and overall game reviews. What is your list of the best SNES games?

Many people and many different game systems will give many different opinions as to what makes a successful Game Master. In the world of pen and dice RPG’s Game Masters or GM’s at their core are story tellers, referees, and character actors all rolled into one. When one considers the how-to’s and why for’s of game mastering one must understand what a role play game truly is at its core. RPG’s at their essence are made up of a group of players who under the guidance of a Game Master go on a quest while portraying persons of a heroic nature in a land of fantasy.

The GM has the twofold purpose of presiding over the game system rules and maintaining the illusion of the game world in which the game takes place. The game master provides the essence of the game world and is the source of its physical realities, situations, and possibilities through the art of descriptive narration and character acting. There are a myriad of tools designed by a myriad of game companies, hobbyist groups, and individuals to aid the game master in his creation of the player universe. These tools run the gambit from reference books to complete scripted and mapped out adventure scenarios. However the experienced GM knows these are only tools to aid in presenting the individual game adventure and feel of the game world.

As a game master you utilize the rules or game system texts of whatever game world you’re playing as the source for the physical realities of that world. In these texts you will find the “nuts and bolts” that make the game playable. You will also find descriptive history or back stories to assist you in presenting the world setting of the game as intended by its creators. These books however should not be used as step by step guides such as those written for board games. Rather they serve the dual purpose of providing the mechanisms by which game elements such as combat, movement, and achievement are regulated and impart an all encompassing vision of the game world. Grasping the rules systems of die rolls, reference tables, and items usage is essential to being a GM as it is obviously necessary for game play. However of equal importance and possibly greater scope is being the story teller presenting the game world and all its features, physical laws, situations, and characters. The latter portion of being a GM is often more elusive as it requires one to use their imagination and narrative skills to take the players verbally into a fantasy world.

It is important to remember that there is no scenario that is set in concrete even if it is intricately scripted with many optional variations. Effective GM’ing that will be enjoyable for both the players and the GM involve using a little imagination and flexibility. As each player will perceive the game world according to his or her point of view the game play will never go exactly as the scenario outlines: this is where imagination comes in.

There is always room for drift in the story and as a GM you can add your own “spin” on the scenario tweaking its structure and intended event sequence to fit the flow of the game. By making the story your own you avoid possible and sometimes tedious step by step “A” to “B” feeling of a restrictively scripted scenario. By allowing the scenario to become a free flowing adventure the GM interacts with the players, using their ideas and perceptions to create an interactive story that everyone is part of.

Essentially, it’s OK if the player characters want to deviate from the scenario and run off to get drunk or go shopping for new weapons. These diversions can be added to the scenario or are even provided for by the presence of locations like towns and cities designed for such purposes. This affords the GM the opportunity to be more creative in their interpretation of the game script while allowing the players to experience their own “spin” on the game setting.

Returning the players to the scenario objective can be as simple as involving them in a bar brawl, or having them accused of cheating a merchant. Any number of Non player characters designed for the GM to use in the quest settings can be inserted or even invented by game masters to guide players back on track when needed. It often becomes necessary to manipulate player actions if they get too far out of story line. By the same token the game sometimes becomes more fun if they game master allows the story to precede in a direction of its own guided for a time by the players actions.

NPC’s or non player characters are any creature from simple monster to helpful ally played by the game master and often described or scripted in adventure stories that give depth and interaction to an adventure. NPC’s played by the game master are not intended solely as scripted automatons used to supplement combat or appear in one place doing one thing as they do in many video games. Rather they can be as in-depth and flexible as is needed within the limits of their abilities as described in scenario texts or rule books. Non player characters are one of the primary means by which the GM guides and steers the players and the game setting through their placement, intent, and quest knowledge. For example: A player decides to deviate from the scenario script to go get drunk.

The GM can use an NPC as a drinking buddy, the antagonist who starts a bar brawl, or the person who bails the player out of jail thereby leading them back to the scenario objective. NPC’s are essential to any role play game and invaluable tools for the GM’s use as they are the costars, bit players and filler that provide the interactive aspect of the game world. Since you as the game master act out the NPC’s you can use them to retard or enhance player progress through the adventure. They are a very good way of giving hints to lost players who become stuck or miss important clues to reaching quest goals. In the case of Monster NPC’s you are the direct adversary to the players as you make all the monsters attack die rolls and attempt to harm players.

Other than playing the part of hostile NPC’s game masters should not see their role as adversarial as an RPG is not a competition between players and the GM. Rather it is theatrically presented challenge to the players with both danger and reward presented in the context of a theme or loosely scripted story. While the game master is (usually) the only one to see maps and descriptions which may include the location of traps and hazards this still does not necessarily create an adversarial situation between GM’s and players. GM’s who play to “kill” player characters often lose players and do not run enjoyable games. In a sense the game master is analogous to god of the game world since they have all the fore knowledge of every bad situation and great reward the players are likely to face it would be far too easy to manipulate them into hazard. There is really no challenge or enjoyment in this style of game mastering and is not considered to be in the spirit of the RPG genre. That having been said there are many times where the game master will not reveal the presence of unseen or lurking danger as the flow of the story or player actions do not warrant warning.

Role Play Games are very much “real world” in terms of the players actions or lack thereof determining the outcome of any given situation. There are many instances where players may simply forget to use that magic danger sensing ability or simply not look before they leap. In these cases GM’s are never considered adversarial if they don’t tell players about things they could not have seen or known about. This may at times cause disputes and this is when your knowledge of game mechanics or rules processes comes into its own. If players run afoul of some hazard or lose a battle or fall into a trap they may often ask if there is a die they can roll or a chart they can look on to see if they can escape or win. In most cases the appearance of danger or challenging situations automatically invokes some die roll.

However it is up to the GM to decide what rolls and when and who makes them for any given situation. All this knowledge is included in various game texts produced by the creators of the various adventures or systems they are designed to be used under. The sometimes tricky part comes about due to the “free form” nature of RPG’s that creates situations that are sometimes in the gray areas of the rules and do not directly invoke a specific die roll or rule driven decision. Game masters in this situation must decide which die rolls apply and sometimes either make up a die roll or a judgment call in the spirit of the rules system being used. By possessing a good working knowledge of the rules, the game world, and the general idea behind how the whole thing is supposed to work GM’s can make these judgment calls on the fly quite easily and fairly.

The bottom line for good GM’ing is that you the GM are the creator of the illusion and administrator of the natural laws of the game world. It is your adventure and you run it with the hope of giving players an immersive fantasy adventure that gives their characters ample opportunity for personal gain and glory while providing sufficient peril and challenge to make it exciting to play.

I don’t know about your game preferences, but I sure do enjoy war games, especially those I can play online against other players. It really brings out my competitive spirit and it gets me away from the cares of daily life.

The Warrior Life.

To really get “in the groove”, I choose a game that lets me play the role of a fighter. A role playing game (RPG) is one that lets my imagination get into the situation, into the world created just for a particular game. An online war RPG game lets me live through the game character, fighting for my survival and struggling to do as much damage (earn the most points) as I make my way through the map.

Zero In.

There are lots of online war RPG games, so let me give you a guide of the features to look for so you will be able to get down to enjoying the kind of game that you like.

Free and Paid.

First of all, there are both paid and free online games. To play some of the games, you must pay first. If you choose the free games, however, beware that many are set up to entice you to pay for various features. These games let you start for free, but charge you for special weapons, maps, or enhancements.

Important Tip for Registering.

Many of the online games make you register, or sign up, for an account before you can play, even if playing the games is free. Especially when you are not too familiar with a site, it’s best to use a “disposable” free email address to sign up. That way, if the site starts spamming you and you can’t unsubscribe, you can just ignore it.

Security First.

Next, beware that you can play games that run in your browser, or games that run as programs on your computer. Unless you are short on disk space, there is no reason to limit your selections to browser games. However, be sure to scan any files you download with a good antivirus program before you install (run) them.

Read the Documentation.

Another thing to watch out for is that some online war RPG games only pit you against the built-in challenges in the game itself. Others let you play against other people online. Sometimes it’s hard to distinguish which characters are generated by the computer and which are controlled by actual players (people). Find out who controls the characters by checking the documentation for the your particular game.

What it Takes to Start Playing – a Warning!

Another warning is that you should be careful when looking for games to play online.

Some of them require you to complete special offers before you can play. The offers may require you to buy things or sign up for services. Look at each screen when you visit a site for the first time, so that you aren’t caught off-guard.

Here’s How to Get Going.

What’s the best way to get started? Just visit a search engine (like Google or Bing) and put in the search term “online war rpg game”. You can then investigate the sites in the search results one by one.

Use Available Search Functions.

Another tip for finding a cool online war RPG game is to visit a site that shows many online games, then narrow your selection to war games. This is only possible on sites that let you search the games, or ones that display categorized listings of games.

Now Get Started.

Use the tips above to find the games that suit your style. Have fun!

The world of online gaming is huge and growing by the day. There are many reasons people are drawn to playing these massive multi-player online games. But one of the main reasons in my opinion, is the online communities it creates. There are literally 1000′s of people playing a single game at anytime of the day. While playing these games you gain “friends” from all over the world, but in most cases you only know them by their game name.

There are many different types of role playing games online to choose from. Most people know the big ones out there (World of Warcraft, EverQuest..etc), but some of the least know online RPG’s or the Text Based Role Playing Games. These games offer some captivating game play, without any animation or controls.

That’s right there are no game graphics, you just type in or click on your commands or actions. The best part about these Text Based Role Playing Games is the online communities that they develop. Text based games tend to have much lower member numbers. Which helps make the communities tighter in these text based games. In these games it is not uncommon to know all most all the players in the game. This really adds to the game play, when you are playing with the same people every day.

There are quite a few text based role playing games out there. Some of my favorites are MafiaLife.com, Avalon and Legendary Tales. One of the best things about these games is that they are completely free to play, as are most all text based games. They mostly stay up and running threw advertisements and donations. The developers of these games are generally, Individuals and their online communities with a good imagination and a lot of time on their hands. These guys create some great text based role playing games, that are a blast to play and build really strong online communities.

An RPG text game is, behind the flesh, a hidden world – delving beneath the fabric of reality to create a place where your imagination can run wild. It is the heart of a character you have always dreamed of, the soul of energizing roleplay and the body of a world crafted by words alone. It is the eyes that see the world and its creations, the eyes that witness life changing events within your environment. It is the lips that frame the words you speak, and the entity that enables you the power of pitch, tone, rhythm and stress. It is the hands that wield mighty weapons of power, the hands that brew concoctions of good will and those which gesture peace or war. It is the feet that carry you into battle, those which tread throughout calm forests, harsh deserts and the freezing tundra. It is the mind you use to embrace your dreams, advancing through time with implemented strategies, plans and activities.

It is, to some, more than just a game. What the games have to offer on the inside is what makes the game real. As you follow your character throughout their lifetime, you can feel that sense of achievement as if you were there walking alongside them. You can feel each emotion endured by not only yourself, but those close to you in your family or within your circle of allies. You feel a loss amongst friends or within the family as if they were your own, and you’ll feel fuelled by the anger or sadness of the situation to do something about it. The emotions that your character could portray really feel as if they come straight from the heart, and to me (as a frequent MUD gamer) a roleplaying text game isn’t complete without that feeling.

An online text game can grow to be home for your imagination, because there really is an endless scope to explore within it. A wide range of character races and options put you at the middle of a huge crossroads with hundreds of different roads to take. Each road has its own consequences, stories, histories and secrets waiting to be discovered. At the end of one road, you may feel as if it wasn’t the right choice, so you can walk back along it and take another, still retaining all the knowledge you gained along the way. No matter what your interests might be, there is always something for everyone to enjoy, pacifist or warmonger. And with that, a wide range of skills are available to gain a profession which you learn and eventually teach to others. Druid, Paladin, Necromancer or Assassin, hundreds of different classes, each with their own skills, will equip your character with the means needed to advance through life with protection and an armoury of offensive capabilities. Allies and enemies will be made, and you’ll soon find that you’re being enveloped into a world beyond your wildest dreams. Text based RPG games aren’t just ‘games’ – they’re worlds, where you’ll feel as if you really do belong.
